Tips to Avoid Negative Marking in JEE Exams
Joint Entrance Examination is a national level engineering entrance exam conducted for facilitating admissions to various undergraduate courses offered by prestigious engineering institutes across India. Students will be granted admissions in NITs, IIITs and Government Funded Technical Institutes based on the marks secured in JEE Mains whereas for being eligible in IITs, the students need to crack JEE Advanced. Competitive exams like JEE and NEET ask multiple choice questions where the students need to select one or more correct answers. Here we have provided some important tips that can help JEE Aspirants in avoiding negative markings.
Follow the Instructions: The students generally start attempting questions even before reading the instructions provided in the beginning. However, instead of skipping read all the instructions very carefully before writing the paper.
Proper Time Management: The students are advised to start with easier questions leaving behind sufficient time for difficult and tricky questions. It will boost your confidence and help you to attempt weaker sections calmly. Starting with harder questions will decrease your confidence and as a result, easier questions might also go wrong.
Don’t Panic: Several times the questions are framed to confuse students. Therefore, all the options should be read well before marking the correct answer. Do not panic or spend more time on one question. Attempt the easier ones first and come back later, once the question paper has been completed. In JEE Mains, there are total 90 questions which are to be answered in just 3 hours, therefore, strategically allocating of time is very important.
Be aware of negative markings: For every incorrect answer, 1 mark will be deducted as a penalty from the main score. Therefore, the students are advised to answer all the questions very carefully without doing any guesswork.
